The school year was LONG! Kids of ALL ages worked hard! Now it’s time to get some grub from some of the many companies that reward hard work to students with good grades.
The list of food establishments below supports our kids of all ages and their hard work in school. Good grades, although they do not define a person are a measure of a students work ethic and determination and should be rewarded!
If your tween/ teen did not make the grades needed for the community rewards YOU can create rewards for them! Success is defined by positive growth on so many levels for a tween/teen; good grades is just one of many! We should celebrate everything good in life no matter how big or small!
Here are just a few ideas for fun rewards at the end of a school year that were generated by a group of 40 teens I spoke with last week ranging in ages 14-16.
- Make sure they have some time in their week to spend with friends however they want
- Teens need a little freedom so let them plan their own get together with friends
- Sleep overs are always fun for teens
- Extra screen time with friends
- No bed time requirement…it’s summer after all!
- Have dinner out as a family but let teens pick the place
- Movie tickets for your teen and a friend
- Camping out in the backyard (yes, even teens still like to do this!)
- Time to just do nothing
Make a copy of that report card, go forth and EAT!

Teens get physically and mentally tired of the daily structure the school year requires just like adults do in their daily jobs. We ALL need a break, parents and teens so…enjoy some down time together as a family but remember to give teens some personal time and space too! We all need it!
Here’s to the beginning of a great summer where memories will be made that include a lot of laughs, love and hugs!

P.S. I will publish a separate blog entry later this week that applies to just college students with their college ID. There are still a huge number of teens in college who could use a little support from community organizations as well!
