Hey! Teens at my school struggle with jealousy. We get so jealous of what others have and what we don’t.
For example, say your friend has a really cool pencil case and you wish you had it, so you get your parents to get you the same one.
Another example: a girl in your school is super popular. You wish you were just like her. Her clothes are the newest thing, her parents let her wear makeup. She’s just really popular and everyone loves her.
The way I see it is that, just because someone has the “hottest” new thing, and everyone wants one, doesn’t mean that everyone needs to have it. What you have makes you who you are. Just because someone got the new iPhone XR doesn’t mean you NEED to have one.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the new trends, and we FORGET…
We forget who we are.
We forget our old friends.
We just forget who everyone is outside of their things.
It’s always fun to mix things up, but you shouldn’t be jealous of new awesome things that you don’t have, because if everyone is like that popular kid in school, then no one is different, and everyone is the same. It would be boring if we weren’t all different.
So the next time someone has something you want, just remember what you already have makes you the great person that you always have been.
