Social Media OFF:  Oven ON

The world feels heavy right now. Social media is overflowing with violence and chaos.   It is overwhelming for adults to process: imagine how it feels for our teens.

It’s too much.

It’s time to simplify teen life right now!

Create a simple space where human connection matters more than scrolling, and laughter matters more than likes.

Where can you start?

The family table.  Plan an intentional family dinner  once a week.

Now, don’t roll your eyes and say, “Conni, we don’t have time for that!” I get it. Life is busy… but find time! You can!

Hear me out: It doesn’t have to be fancy!  Far from it!  Frozen pizza, call Door Dash, waffles or dessert for dinner totally counts.

Create a safe dinner space for everyone to just be themselves.  Be intentional

Your menu

  • FOOD! Teens are always hungry and will eat anything.
  • YOU! Just show up! Your teens really want you at the table.
  • ONE RULE: Screens are NOT invited to the table!

Results!

  • Real connection: trust, inside jokes, even surviving Dad jokes.
  • Mental health boost: lower stress, less anxiety.
  • Simply slowing life down

In a world with social media shouting at teens 24/7, the family table whispers what they need to know: you are safe, you are seen, and you are loved

…and lots of hugs!  Always lots of hugs.

SIDE NOTE : For ages 11 to 17

Here are a few links of my fav choices for alternative phones without social media. And no I am not sponsored by these companies.  I’m just sharing with POTs (parents of teens) because parenting is hard and we need each other.

Much love and encouragement to every parent connecting with their teen
